There’s great news for Alaska Mileage Plan members who ride on Lyft: The two companies have launched a partnership allowing Mileage Plan members to earn valuable Alaska miles on all Lyft rides in the United States and Canada.
Here’s what you need to know about this new partnership, which was first reported by One Mile at a Time.
Earning Alaska miles on Lyft rides
You can earn 1 mile per dollar on all Lyft rides in the U.S. and Canada.
However, through Dec. 31, Mileage Plan members will earn 2 miles per dollar spent on all Lyft rides in the U.S. and Canada.
Members will need to link their Lyft and Alaska accounts at AlaskaLyft.com. Once your accounts are linked, you’ll automatically start earning Alaska miles on all your Lyft rides within the U.S. and Canada. Best of all, there’s no limit to the miles you can earn.
Remember that you’ll only earn Alaska miles on the base fare of your Lyft ride, so ancillary fees like bridge tolls, taxes and driver tips won’t earn you extra miles.

Linking your Lyft and Alaska accounts
To link your Lyft and Alaska accounts, head over to AlaskaLyft.com. Then, select “Link your accounts.” You’ll be prompted to log in to your Mileage Plan account and agree to the terms and conditions.
Next, you’ll be redirected to sign in with Lyft and agree to Lyft’s terms and conditions.
Your Lyft and Alaska accounts will then be linked.

Selecting the best Lyft rewards partner
Lyft riders can earn points and miles on one of three points currencies. You can change your rewards partner by going into the Lyft app and tapping the three horizontal lines in the top left corner. Then select “rewards” and “change travel partner” to toggle between Hilton Honors, Delta SkyMiles and Alaska Mileage Plan.
Here are your rewards options, including the return you can get on your rides based on TPG’s valuations:
Hilton Honors, up to $10,000 per year:
- 3 Hilton Honors points per dollar spent on private Lyft rides in the U.S. (1.8% return).
- 2 Hilton Honors points per dollar spent on shared Lyft rides in the U.S. (1.2% return).
Delta SkyMiles:
- 2 Delta SkyMiles per dollar spent on airport Lyft rides in the U.S. (2.82% return).
- 1 Delta SkyMile per dollar spent on non-airport Lyft rides in the U.S. (1.41% return).
Alaska Mileage Plan:
- 2 Alaska Mileage Plan miles per dollar spent on all Lyft rides in 2022 in the U.S. and Canada (3.6% return).
- 1 Alaska Mileage Plan mile per dollar spent on all Lyft rides in the U.S. and Canada (1.8% return).
As a reminder, you can only select one reward partner. With plenty of sweet spots in the Alaska Mileage Plan program, and since Alaska Mileage Plan miles aren’t transferable from the major credit card transferable currencies, I’ll be switching my preferred Lyft rewards partner to Alaska Mileage Plan.

Earning more points on Lyft rides
I wrote an article several months ago on how you can triple stack on your Lyft rides. The Chase Sapphire Reserve earns an astonishing 10 Ultimate Rewards Points (20% back at TPG’s valuations) per dollar spent on Lyft. And the following Chase cards earn 5 points or 5% per dollar on Lyft:
- Chase Sapphire Preferred Card.
- Chase Freedom Unlimited.
- Chase Freedom Flex.
- Chase Freedom Student credit card.
- Ink business cards, including the Ink Business Preferred Credit Card, Ink Business Cash Credit Card and the Ink Business Unlimited Credit Card.
You can also link your credit card to Dosh to earn extra cash back that you can transfer to PayPal or Venmo for free.

Bottom line
Alaska Mileage Plan miles are some of the most valuable and aren’t transferable from the major credit card points currencies. Now, Alaska Mileage Plan members can earn miles on all Lyft rides in the United States and Canada. It took me about two minutes to link my accounts, and now I’ll be earning valuable Mileage Plan miles on my Lyft rides.
