Keep in mind that these marked-down fares for San Juan are only for basic economy. United’s basic economy comes with many restrictions. Passengers must pay an additional fee for seat selection and cannot make ticket changes. Also, basic economy flyers are not eligible for upgrades.

United economy seat selection costs anywhere from $15 to $21. You can also purchase preferred seating, which allows you to earn Premier qualifying points, but those are pricier as those seats are $33 to $50.
