Attention, travel enthusiasts: Delta SkyMiles has launched a limited-time SkyMiles promotion on both domestic and international fares. However, don’t wait to plan your trip — you must book by Aug. 29 to snag one of these lucrative deals.
So, if you’ve struggled to get more than a cent in value for each of your Delta SkyMiles, here’s your chance with Delta Air Lines’ new summer promotion.
You can view all of the offers included in Delta’s new Beyond the Summer Event promotion at this special landing page. There, you can search by origin airport and destination region to find qualifying flights. Unfortunately, only basic economy and Main Cabin seats are included in this offer, so Delta’s infamous business-class seats to Europe for 300,000-plus miles are not included in this promotion.
However, the promotion does include economy seats for routes across Delta’s worldwide network. Travel dates vary from country to country as follows:
- Flights to Japan: Oct. 2, 2024, to March 15, 2025
- Flights to China: Oct. 2 to Nov. 30, 2024
- Flights to Australia and New Zealand: Oct. 2, 2024, to Feb. 28, 2025
- Flights to French Polynesia: Oct. 29, 2024, to Feb. 28, 2025
- Flights to Taiwan and South Korea: Sept. 1, 2024, to Nov. 15, 2024
- Flights to Europe: Nov. 1, 2024, to March 8, 2025
Some blackout dates apply to each region — check the landing page for more details.

Delta SkyMiles summer award promotion details
The new promotion offers round-trip domestic flights, including New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Miami International Airport (MIA), from just 9,000 miles plus $12 in fees and taxes. With various loyalty programs recently increasing the cost of domestic flights, booking a one-way flight for under 9,000 miles is a terrific offer.
If you’re looking to travel internationally, you can snag round-trip basic economy flights from JFK to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) in January for as low as 30,000 miles plus $102 in taxes and fees. It’s worth noting that cash fares to Europe in January are typically very affordable during this off-peak travel month.
Other notable Europe deals include Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to London’s Heathrow Airport (LHR) for just 36,000 miles round-trip in basic economy. Note that this option requires $210 in taxes and fees and is for travel in January.
If Asia is on your bucket list, you can fly round-trip from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) for just 44,000 miles plus $40 in taxes and fees.
Additionally, holding a Delta cobranded credit card will give you a 15% discount on award flights booked with SkyMiles. The following cards are eligible for the TakeOff 15 discount:
- Delta SkyMiles® Gold American Express Card
- Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card
- Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card
- Delta SkyMiles® Gold Business American Express Card
- Delta SkyMiles® Platinum Business American Express Card
- Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card

If you hold one of these cobranded cards, the round-trip flight from Seattle to Taipei, Taiwan, would only cost 37,400 miles plus $40 in taxes and fees.
If you fancy escaping the winter blues and heading Down Under, then Delta is also offering round-trip flights from LAX to Brisbane Airport (BNE) in Australia for 56,000 miles plus $118 in taxes and fees. This option is for a round-trip basic economy redemption for travel in January and February 2025.
For something more exotic, consider booking round-trip flights from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to French Polynesia‘s Faaa International Airport (PPT) on Tahiti for just 58,000 miles plus $67 in taxes and fees. If you have a cobranded credit card, the cost drops to 49,300 miles.

Bottom line
For a program known for high redemption rates, it’s pleasing to see reduced fares across Delta’s network, with round-trip flights starting from just 9,000 miles. Travel dates are limited and over the off-peak winter period, so check the offers against cash fares to ensure you’re getting a good deal.
If you don’t mind flying basic economy or in the main cabin, there are great domestic and international rates, especially if you have a Delta cobranded credit card.
